Are pathogens inactivated in human saliva samples collected with the PAXgene Saliva Collector?
Specimens and samples are potentially infectious and must be treated as biohazardous materials.
Evidence exists that SARS-CoV-2 is inactivated in the stabilizing reagent in a way that the virus loses its capability to replicate in a cell culture model (for more information see the application note at the Resource section of www.QIAGEN.com and www.PreAnalytiX.com).

The PAXgene Saliva Collector is a non-invasive sample collection device for human saliva collection, stabilization, transport and storage. The device is designed to simplify at-home collection without the intervention of a lab personnel.
