Do I have to discard Buffer RLT with beta-Mercaptoethanol (ß-ME) added to it after 1 month of storage?
No. Beta-Mercaptoethanol (ß-ME) is stable for 1 month, but Buffer RLT itself is stable for at least 9 months at room temperature (15 to 25°C). Simply add fresh ß-ME to the Buffer RLT supplied in RNeasy Kits to ensure complete inactivation of RNases while isolating RNA.

RNeasy Kits
RNeasy Kits are the gold standard for total RNA isolation. RNeasy Plant Mini Kit
The RNeasy Plant Mini Kit includes QIAshredder spin columns for homogenizing and filtering viscous plant or fungal lysates, and RNeasy spin columns for purifying up to 100 μg of high-quality RNA using silica-membrane technology. Purification can be fully automated on the QIAcube Connect. The kit can also be used in combination with a TissueRuptor or TissueLyser system, which provide efficient disruption and homogenization of plant samples.
RNeasy Fibrous Tissue Mini Kit
The RNeasy Fibrous Tissue Mini Kit includes proteinase K for removing abundant protein in fiber-rich tissue samples, and RNeasy spin columns for purifying up to 100 µg of high-quality RNA. The kit can be automated on the QIAcube Connect. Fibrous tissue samples can be conveniently stabilized using RNAprotect Tissue Reagent or Allprotect Tissue Reagent, and efficiently disrupted using a TissueRuptor or TissueLyser system. miRNeasy Tissue/Cells Advanced Kits
The miRNeasy Tissue/Cells Advanced Kits are the second generation of the well-established miRNeasy Kits. These improved versions combine a phenol-free advanced chemistry with gDNA Eliminator Columns or gDNA 96 Eliminator Plates for safe and convenient RNA isolation. They enable purification of total RNA, including small RNAs ≥18 nucleotides, from animal tissues and cells, including small samples. The kits use spin columns for low-throughput RNA purification. The miRNeasy Tissue/Cells Advanced Mini Kit can be automated on the QIAcube Connect.
EZ2 RNA/miRNA Tissue/Cells Kit
The EZ2 RNA/miRNA Tissue/Cells Kit makes it easy and safe to purify total RNA – including miRNA and other small RNA – from cultured cells and various human or animal tissues. The process requires no use of phenols, and once the lysis step is completed, all remaining steps are automated with any EZ2 Connect instrument.
