Combatting the nationwide silent mass disaster with FIGG: Medicolegal identification protocols
The number of missing persons and unidentified human remains in US jurisdictions (and in other nations) is described as the silent mass disaster. Speaker Kim Gin draws on her experience as Coroner of Sacramento County (retired) to discuss this crisis and the medicolegal death investigation protocols that have been designed to address it. She discusses many reasons for the underestimated scale of missing and unidentified persons cases nationally and how FIGG is an instrumental step in the suite of identification methodologies. Kim also presents a few cases that she has personally been involved in.
The webinar will conclude with discussion around access for medicolegal agencies to grant opportunities, industry collaborations and assistance in overcoming training roadblocks.
