How does the RNeasy Microarray Tissue Mini Kit prevent traces of phenol from negatively affecting the reverse-transcription step in microarray experiments?

Use of RNA containing trace contaminants affects the reverse-transcription step in microarray experiments. In contrast to traditional methods used for RNA purification prior to microarray analysis, the RNeasy Microarray Tissue Mini Kit uses phenol-based QIAzol Lysis Reagent only as a means to increase RNA yield. The aqueous phase is then directly applied to an RNeasy column. The RNeasy spin column efficiently removes phenol and other contaminants, providing highly pure RNA for microarray analysis.
