DNA from different plants was analyzed using the universal trnL PCR System (amplifying an intergenic region of a tRNA coding gene in the chloroplast genome). B: Barley; R: rye; S: sunflower; T: tomato; A: arabidopsis; W: wheat.
Reproducible yields.
Maize lysate (30 ml) was generated and divided into aliquots. Each aliquot (containing DNA from 60 mg of wet plant material) was processed using the BioRobot Plant System, and 20 µl of each eluate was loaded onto a 0.8% agarose gel.

Purified DNA has been used successfully in PCR and real-time PCR (see figures "Successful PCR analysis" and "Reliable real-time PCR analysis").

The MagAttract 96 DNA Plant Kit is designed for fully automated, high-throughput preparation of genomic and chloroplast DNA from plant tissue. Proven MagAttract magnetic particle technology in combination with the BioRobot Plant Science system (no longer available) provides efficient and reproducible DNA purification (see figure "Reproducible yields").
Plant samples are mechanically disrupted using a homogenizer such as the TissueLyser. The resulting powder is resuspended in lysis buffer, thoroughly mixed, and centrifuged. Lysates are transferred to a 96-well microplate containing MagAttract magnetic particles, and genomic DNA selectively binds to the surface of the particles (see "MagAttract 96 DNA Plant Core procedure"). After washing, pure genomic DNA is eluted with low-salt buffer, and is ready for use in downstream applications. The MagAttract 96 DNA Plant Kit is designed for use with the BioRobot Plant Science system for fully automated DNA purification. QIAGEN also offers an automated protocol using the BioRobot RapidPlate workstation, and a manual protocol for evaluation purposes.

The MagAttract 96 DNA Plant Kit provides high yields of DNA from many plant species. The purified DNA is up to 40 kb in size, with fragments of 23 kb predominating, and is ready to use in downstream applications, including:
