Dr. Rathana Kim, Department of Molecular Hematology, Hematology Laboratory, Saint-Louis Hospital, Paris, France
Dr. Rathana Kim undertook a pharmacy course at Paris-Sud XI University, France followed by an internship in medical biology, focusing on hematology. After completing his pharmacy and medical biology degrees in 2017, he was awarded a one-year research grant. He became interested in the biology of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) while working in the laboratory of Prof. E. Macintyre, Necker–Enfants Malades Hospital, Paris, France. Dr. Kim studied the involvement of the IL7-receptor signaling pathway in adult T-ALL and gained expertise in cell biology and xenograft models of leukemia. In 2018, Dr. Rathana Kim took up the position of Junior Clinical Biologist in the Department of Molecular Hematology led by Prof. E. Clappier – part of the Hematology Laboratory of Saint-Louis Hospital, Paris, France. He actively contributes to diagnostic and translational research activities in the reference laboratory for the biology of adult B-ALL. This reference laboratory is part of the French national cooperative Group for Research in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (GRAALL). Dr. Kim gained expertise in high-throughput genome analyses and is actively involved in the French National Plan for Genomic Medicine as an expert for acute leukemias. Currently, his main research interest is the role of clonal hematopoiesis in the biology of adult B-ALL.
