Manjunath Keremane, PhD, Plant Pathologist, National Clonal Germplasm Repository for Citrus and Dates, U.S. Department of Agriculture
Dr. Manjunath Keremane has served as a plant pathologist at the USDA National Clonal Germplasm Repository for Citrus and Dates for over 20 years. He has worked extensively with citrus industries in both India and Florida. Manjunath’s current research focuses on the diagnostics of graft-transmitted pathogens in citrus. For one of his projects, he developed advanced detection methods to facilitate the safe and efficient release of germplasm accessions from regulatory quarantine. Recently, he has leveraged next-generation sequencing (NGS) and high-throughput qPCR testing arrays to significantly strengthen pathogen discovery, characterization and screening pipelines. To date, he has authored more than 100 research publications and regularly reviews tracking citrus genomics and pathology.
