Product Details

QIAsprint Essential Kits provide the magnetic-bead chemistry required for automated high-throughput nucleic acid purification on the QIAsprint Connect system. As the core reagent component of the modular QIAsprint platform, the Essential Kits supply the bind–wash–elute chemistry used across a broad range of applications, including DNA, RNA, miRNA, viral nucleic acids, plasmid DNA and microbial nucleic acids isolation.


Each kit contains the magnetic beads, wash buffers and elution reagents optimized for its specific application category. When combined with the appropriate QIAsprint PrepSet, Essential Kits enable flexible workflow configuration based on sample type and target analyte (see Applications)

Principle

The QIAsprint system uses a modular workflow design that allows automated nucleic acid purification to be configured according to sample type and application. Each workflow is assembled from three modules:

  • PrepSet: Generally, provides the reagents required for sample pretreatment and lysis, tailored to specific sample types.
  • Essential Kit: Supplies the binding matrix with required wash and elution buffers.
  • Add-on modules: Optional components that extend the workflow with additional processing steps or functionalities.

By combining these modules, laboratories can configure workflows for a wide range of applications, including purification of DNA, RNA, miRNA, viral nucleic acids, plasmid DNA and microbial nucleic acids (see Applications).

Many buffers and reagents used in the system are also available as standalone components, providing additional flexibility for customized or specialized workflows (see QIAsprint sets and consumables finder).

Applications

QIAsprint Essential Kits provide the magnetic-bead purification chemistry used across automated workflows on the QIAsprint Connect. Each Essential Kit variant contains application-specific wash and elution buffers that support different nucleic acid purification strategies.

Essential Kits are typically combined with QIAsprint PrepSets depending on the sample type and workflow requirements. Laboratories can freely configure workflows by selecting the PrepSet appropriate for their sample while choosing the Essential Kit that matches the desired purification chemistry.

Which sample amounts can be processed with the QIAsprint PowerExtract IRT PrepSet + Essential Kit C?
Use 1–100 mg stool material. It is recommended to start with 50 mg. An easy way to transfer stool material without weighing is to use a 10 µL or 1 µL inoculating loop.

I see beads in my QIAsprint eluate. What does this mean and what should I do?
Bead carryover is typically caused by high input amounts. If possible, reduce the sample input and ensure Proteinase K was used. To recover the eluate, place the plate on a magnetic rack and transfer the cleared supernatant. Residual beads generally do not interfere with downstream applications.
