How does the LIAISON QuantiFERON test work?

The LIAISON TB test uses a chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA) to detect TB infection. Whole blood samples are incubated in QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus Blood Collection Tubes, which stimulate in vitro immune responses to peptide antigens associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. The LIAISON immunoassay then measures interferon-γ (IFN-γ) in the stimulated plasma samples to determine if TB infection is likely.
