  • Negative selection separates cells of interest from heterogeneous cell populations

Product Details

BioMag Goat Anti-Rat IgG are standard BioMag particles coated with polyclonal goat anti-rat IgG antibodies and are highly suited for use in cell sorting methods where a rat IgG antibody is used as a primary antibody. BioMag Goat Anti-Rat IgG can be used to separate the cells of interest from a heterogeneous cell population using negative selection. BioMag Goat Anti-Rat IgG can also be used as secondary antibodies in enzyme immunoassays and radioassays that utilize rat IgG primary monoclonal antibody.

FAQ

Can I use BioMag particles with any specific primary antibody?
Yes. BioMag secondary antibody particles can be used with a wide variety of antibodies. They are produced by covalently attaching polyclonal antibodies from various species to BioMag particles. They are available with Anti-Rabbit, Anti-Rat and Anti-Mouse coatings.
273
How magnetically responsive is BioMag?
BioMag particles are superparamagnetic in that they have no magnetic memory and will readily resuspend if the magnetic force is removed. They have over 90% magnetite content and have a magnetization of 25-35 EMU/g (Electromagnetic Units).
265
If I want to use BioMag particles, do I have to buy a QIAGEN magnet too or can I use one that I already have?
For maximum performance, BioMag particles should be used with one of QIAGEN magnets. Since BioMag particles are so small, they require a strong magnetic field in order to separate them in a timely fashion. The BioMag magnets are rare earth (Neodymium-Iron-Boron) magnets embedded into plastic, with magnetic strengths ranging from 27 megagauss Oersteds to 35 megagauss Oersteds depending on the magnet. Strong magnets from alternative suppliers may also provide a suitable alternative.
266
Are BioMag particles stable in other solvents?
BioMag particles are packaged in a distilled water/EDTA solution with 0.08% sodium azide and BSA. BioMag particles has been used in various coupling buffers at pH’s ranging from 5.5 to 8.0. Other than the various buffers used in the coupling procedures, BioMag particles has not been tested in any other organic solvents or at radical pH values. While BioMag particles has been used in a wide variety of conditions, it is suggested that the user determine the suitability of BioMag particles for their particular application.
