Automated nucleic acid purification from diverse sample types using dedicated microbiome kits on the QIAcube

This webinar will focus on the automation of QIAGEN’s new line of DNA and RNA sample prep kits for the microbiome. We will show how automation on the QIAcube enables efficient and reliable use of these samples for sensitive downstream applications such as qPCR and NGS. In addition, you will learn how to successfully use the CLC Microbial Genomics Module for metagenome sequencing analysis and identification of microbial composition and diversity.

Patrick Smith, Ph.D.

Patrick Smith received his Ph.D. in 2011 from the Immunology Department at Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, where he studied the immune response to infection with a parasitic worm. He next joined Wendy Garrett's lab at the Harvard School for Public Health where his research focused on how the intestinal microbiome influenced immune system development. Patrick then moved to Germany for a post-doc position at the Max Planck Institute for the Biology of Ageing where he investigated how the intestinal microbiome influences ageing. Patrick joined QIAGEN as a Scientist in April 2016.
