How do I apply?
We know completing forms can be tedious, so we’ve narrowed down our application to the 4 most essential questions. Due to popular demand, we are extending the deadline until October 1, 2021. Please submit your answers by midnight CEST (6 p.m. EDT).
Am I eligible?
The early years of any business are the most challenging, so we’re only accepting applications from biotech companies that have been operating since September 1, 2019. Please note, these grants are only available to companies based in North America and Europe.

Rules and regulations
All applicants must be currently working at a biotech company founded on or after September 1, 2019, and must be primarily responsible for the research/work described. Employees and immediate family members of QIAGEN cannot participate in the contest. This is an international contest. Submissions to the Awards are accepted from any researcher regardless of age, gender, country of origin, background or religion. The research/work described in the submission must fall within the molecular biology field. Incomplete submissions or those that do not meet the requirements will not be accepted. Individuals or entities classified as healthcare professionals or healthcare organizations under any applicable laws or industry codes of ethics may not participate in this program. All applications must be submitted in the English language. One entry per person. Winning applications will be chosen by QIAGEN based on completeness, scientific interest, and geographic location, as determined by QIAGEN in its sole discretion.
QIAGEN will provide the Research Grant only to the employer of the winning applicant. The person submitting the application (the “Applicant”) is therefore entering on behalf of their employer, which will be the recipient of the Research Grant (the “Grant Recipient”). By submitting an application for a Research Grant, the Applicant certifies that he or she has obtained any permissions required from the Grant Recipient to submit such application on the Grant Recipient’s behalf and is not violating any policies of the Grant Recipient in so doing.
We are only accepting applications from North America (Canada and United States including Puerto Rico) and Europe (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.)
THE APPLICATION PERIOD OPENS ON 9 AUGUST, 2021 AND CLOSES MIDNIGHT CEST (6 p.m. EDT) ON 1 OCTOBER, 2021. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. The winners will be selected according to the judging process outlined below and notified by telephone call or email. Candidates who do not receive notification should assume that they have not been successful this time, but we wish them luck for next year.
The winning entries will be chosen by our distinguished panel of experts in the field of molecular biology. Members of the judging panel must be unbiased and have no conflicts of interest with any entries. Entries will be graded based on:
- Originality and innovation
- How the grant will be used
- Potential for growth and impact
- Viable future goals and planning
- Current status of funding
Successful applicants will be awarded one grant worth up to $100,000 in QIAGEN life science products and instruments. Grants will be awarded within one year from the announcement of winners.
