How are plasma membrane containing vesicles eluted off the ligand in the Qproteome Plasma Membrane Protein procedure?

Elution of the plasma membrane vesicles off the Strep-Tactin resin trapped ligand is performed by employing a high concentration of a competitor substance with high affinity to the ligand. As a result, plasma membrane vesicles are being released from the ligand, while the ligand remains tightly bound to the Strep-Tactin beads via its biotin group.
