Accurate and Fully Automated Quantification of Residual DNA in Bioprocess Samples

A critical step in ensuring the quality and safety of vaccines and other biological preparations is checking for the presence of host cell contaminants. Highly sensitive quantification of host cellular DNA is achieved by efficient, high-recovery DNA extraction and qPCR methods.

During biopharmaceutical purification, clearance studies are performed to calculate the clearance factors for host cellular DNA. These studies involve a range of samples in a broad variety of process buffers. It is essential that the chosen DNA enrichment method can handle all of the different possible sample matrices with equally high recovery of the genomic DNA. For optimal throughput and a high degree of standardization, it is best to have a fully automated sample preparation system.

This webinar describes a new system enabling fully automated extraction of cell DNA out of process samples, cell culture harvests, or end products, and automated quantification of DNA by qPCR. Data are presented on recovery, LOD, LOQ, linear range, and precision.
