About this webinar

Gastroenteritis is a leading cause of medical consultation and sometimes requires hospitalization. Microbiological diagnosis is essential for managing these illnesses, but they’re often underdiagnosed due to inefficient, low-sensitivity testing. Diagnosis using conventional microbiological methods requires multiple techniques and is time-consuming. Further, clinicians typically receive results once they’re less clinically valuable, after the resolution of symptoms or the initiation of antibiotics. In contrast, multiplex real-time PCR can detect several pathogens responsible for gastroenteritis – including viruses, bacteria and parasites – in a single run of around one hour. Join Professor Laurence Armand-Lefevre of AP-HP during this engaging webinar as she discusses the performance and benefits of multiplex RT-PCR for gastroenteritis and how it can improve the workflow in microbiology laboratories. She will also demonstrate how this method impacts patient care and the management of outbreaks.
