Product Details

QIAmini purifies DNA or RNA from up to 8 samples at a time. It’s small enough to fit on a sheet of paper and uses magnetic bead technology. Dedicated kits with prefilled reagent cartridges reduce the workload for nucleic acid purification to sample pre-treatment, loading and pressing a button. QIAmini automatically performs binding, washing and elution steps. Dedicated QIAGEN kits are available for a wide-range of samples types (listed below), ensuring high-quality and high-yield DNA and RNA for your experiments and analyses.

QIAmini has a touchscreen for easy instrument operation and a simple in-browser app called QIAmini Suite. This means that access to protocols, run management, reporting and support resources are avaible in QIAmini Suite from your desktop, laptop or any mobile device with an internet connection.

Meet QIAmini, your trusted lab companion that increases reproducibility and reliability while reducing your manual workload. QIAmini makes everyday sample preparation simpler, more consistent and more efficient.

Procedure

QIAmini is an automated nucleic acid purification device with simple kit protocols: Just prepare the sample, load the instrument and press a button.

The nucleic acid purification protocol depends on the specific kit used (see “Applications” for a full list). Following sample-specific pretreatment, just load the prepared samples into prefilled QIAmini cartridges that have been placed in the frame (included). Prefilled cartrifges contain magnetic beads and purification buffers. Additional reagents may be added depending on the kit and application. The frame holding the cartridge is then inserted into the QIAmini. The rod covers are slipped into place. The covers serve three purposes: They protect the magnetic rods, assist with magnetic bead transfer and mix the samples when the magnet is disengaged.

The protocol is then selected from the QIAmini touchscreen, and the run is started.

The next steps are fully completed by QIAmini for all kits. During purification, magnetic beads are transferred to the lysate well, where nucleic acids bind to the bead surface. The beads are subsequently moved through three wash wells. At each wash step, the beads are released, mixed with the wash buffer, recaptured, and transferred to the next well to remove proteins, salts, inhibitors, and other contaminants. The beads are then transferred to the elution well, where nucleic acids are released into the elution buffer. The magnetic beads are collected and discarded into a designated waste well  Automated steps on QIAmini.

The purified nucleic acid eluate is ready for collection and can be used for downstream applications such as PCR, dPCR, qPCR or sequencing.

This prepare, load and press play procedure reduces your work time on purifications, minimizes manual handling  QIAmini workflow and enables rapid preparation for subsequent runs.

Applications

QIAmini has high-performance kits for most major biological sample types. More kits to expand the amount of sample types are planned.

With QIAGEN validated protocols on QIAmini, users can obtain high-quality nucleic acids, suitable for demanding downstream applications including next-generation sequencing (NGS), digital PCR (dPCR) and qPCR.

Software

QIAmini is operated via a user-friendly touchscreen with onboard software for running the instrument and protocols, configuration and operational settings.

QIAmini Suite is a browser-based application that can be used from your desktop, laptop or any mobile device with an internet connection. Options for mobile apps are also available for download in the appropiate app store. QIAmini Suite is essentially login-free, meaning loading the in-browser app gives you access to essential protocols, resources and support tools without creating a username or password. You can browse available protocols, transfer them to the QIAmini instrument via USB, Bluetooth (mobile devices) or by scanning a QR code (using the QIAmini barcode reader). A further feature of QIAmini Suite is the integrated “Knowledge hub” for protocol guidance, troubleshooting resources and related kit information. Incident reporting is also available directly within the application.

Linking QIAmini Suite to a “My QIAGEN” account is optional. The account is free and when logged in, you unlock additional features, including the ability to adjust some protocol parameters, import and store run reports from the instrument and synchronize protocols across mobile and web applications. When logged in, personalized protocols are securely stored and accessible from any supported device on which you are logged in, enabling a seamless and efficient workflow across the laboratory.
