QIAGEN now offers over 500 assays for species-level microbial identification and virulence factor and antibiotic resistance gene detection and profiling. Each hydrolysis probe qPCR assay is first rigorously designed to be both specific and sensitive, and then is wet-bench tested to verify its efficacy. Microbial DNA qPCR Multi-Assay Kits group these assays together to test for pathogens and associated genes; for example, the MRSA (Methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus) kit tests for the presence of the bacterium and associated virulence factor and antibiotic resistance genes. These assays have also been grouped into larger sets that make up single-use PCR arrays, enabling researchers to focus on identifying and profiling specific keystone organisms or their antibiotic resistance genes. These assays, assay kits, and arrays all come with their own instrument-specific qPCR mastermix. Control templates and control assays are also available, as well as Microbial DNA-Free Water, which is tested by qPCR to ensure the success of your experiment.
