UDGases

UDGases

Uracil-DNA glycosylases (UDGs) are responsible for excising uracil residues that can arise from cytosine deamination or misincorporation during replication. And initiate the base excision repair pathway, preventing mutations and maintaining genomic stability. Thermolabile variants of UDG, such as Thermolabile UNG, offer the advantage of easy inactivation at elevated temperatures, facilitating applications where prevention of carryover contamination is crucial.

The Uracil Cleavage System combines UDG with an AP endonuclease, enabling efficient removal of uracil and subsequent cleavage of the DNA backbone at abasic sites. By using UDGases like UDGase and Thermolabile UNG, you can effectively mitigate the risk of uracil-induced mutations, ensuring the integrity of genetic material in various experimental workflows.
