Dr. Karen Holt, Faculty member, School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University
Dr. Karen Holt holds two Master’s degrees, one in Criminal Justice and one in Forensic Psychology. She earned her doctoral degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. Dr. Holt’s research focuses on sexual deviance, sexual offending and the intersection of technology, media and offending. She is a board member of the Michigan chapter of the Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse and is also on the board of Small Talk, a children’s advocacy center in Lansing. She serves as a Consulting Criminologist on the Cold Case Homicide Review Team, a collaboration between Michigan State University and the Michigan State Police, and as a Crime Analysis Consultant for the Cold Case Foundation. She recently received funding from the Michigan State Police to conduct research on the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative, developing offender-focused knowledge which can inform theory and practice.
