The MagAttract 96 cador Pathogen Kit simplifies the isolation of viral RNA and DNA and bacterial DNA from a whole range of animal samples, including undiluted whole blood, serum, swabs and tissue. Using Magnetic Bead Technology, contaminants and inhibitors are removed to yield pathogen nucleic acids that are ready for use in downstream applications, such as real-time PCR and RT-PCR. The MagAttract 96 cador Pathogen Kit can be used on BioSprint 96 or equivalent automation platforms.

The MagAttract 96 cador Pathogen Kit is used with the BioSprint 96 or equivalent platform. The kit uses magnetic-particle technology for rapid purification of viral DNA and RNA and bacterial DNA from veterinary samples.

The BioSprint 96 controls an array of magnetic rods that can attract or release magnetic particles and transfer them from plate to plate. The sequential transfer of magnetic particles allows a rapid purification procedure to be performed, from the initial binding of DNA to the particles, to washing of the particles and elution of pure nucleic acids. Since the instrument transfers magnetic particles instead of liquids, it uses minimal amounts of reagents, enabling cost-efficient sample preparation. 
Optimized protocols provide reproducible purification of high-quality viral DNA and RNA and bacterial DNA for life science and veterinary pathogen research applications. Automated processing is fast, taking only 34 minutes to run up to 96 samples, after loading the Biosprint 96.

Most common fluid samples can be directly processed using the main protocol, which involves the lysis, binding, wash and elution steps, described in the "Principle" section.

Tissue samples and samples containing difficult-to-lyse bacteria require the appropriate pretreatment (see the table "Pretreatments for the cador Pathogen Kits protocol"). After pretreatment, the samples undergo the same procedure as for fluid samples, enabling parallel processing.

* Gram-positive bacteria are difficult to lyse due to their rigid cell wall. However, some Gram-negative bacteria are also difficult to lyse, and can benefit from pretreatment B1 or B2.
