What are the main differences between other magnetic beads and the BioMag particles?

Many other magnetic particles are spherical with a surface area of 2-8m2/g. BioMag particles are not spheres. Their irregular shape gives BioMag an average surface area of over 100m2/g. This increased surface area translates into greater binding capacity, especially when capturing small molecules such as oligos. Since BioMag contains over 90% magnetite content, they are extremely magnetically responsive. Other smaller, nano-size magnetic particles require a column to separate them. BioMag is easily separated in 1 to 10 minutes simply by resting the test tube in one of the BioMag separator racks. BioMag is also less expensive than other magnetic particles, and eliminating the need to buy expensive filters makes it an even more cost-effective system.
