What can I use to isolate RNA smaller than 200 nucleotides?
For the isolation of microRNA (miRNA) specifically, we have developed the miRNeasy Mini Kit and the miRNeasy 96 Kit for isolation from cells and tissues. We also have the PAXgene Blood miRNA and Tissue miRNA kits for isolation from blood stored in PAXgene Blood RNA tubes and PAXgene Tissue Containers, respectively. PAXgene Blood miRNA Kit
The PAXgene Blood miRNA System consists of the PAXgene Blood miRNA Kit for purification of total RNA, including RNA longer than approximately 18 nucleotides, and PAXgene Blood RNA Tubes (available from BD, cat. no. 762165) for collection, stabilization, and transport of blood. Purification is carried out using silica-based RNA purification technology in a spin-column format. Used with the containers, the kit provides a complete preanalytical solution for collection, fixation, and stabilization through to purification of high-quality miRNA and total RNA for molecular analysis.
miRNeasy Kits
miRNeasy Kits enable purification of total RNA from all types of animal tissues and cells, including difficult-to-lyse tissues and small tissue and cell samples. Alternatively, an miRNA-enriched fraction and a total RNA (>200 nt) fraction can be purified separately (for separate purification, an RNeasy MinElute Cleanup Kit is required when using the miRNeasy Micro or Mini Kit and an additional RNeasy 96 plate when using the miRNeasy 96 Kit). Purification of 1–12 samples can be automated on the QIAcube Connect. High-throughput processing in convenient 96-well format can be performed using centrifugation or vacuum procedures. miRNeasy Tissue/Cells Advanced Kits
The miRNeasy Tissue/Cells Advanced Kits are the second generation of the well-established miRNeasy Kits. These improved versions combine a phenol-free advanced chemistry with gDNA Eliminator Columns or gDNA 96 Eliminator Plates for safe and convenient RNA isolation. They enable purification of total RNA, including small RNAs ≥18 nucleotides, from animal tissues and cells, including small samples. The kits use spin columns for low-throughput RNA purification. The miRNeasy Tissue/Cells Advanced Mini Kit can be automated on the QIAcube Connect.
