About this webinar

Infectious gastroenteritis poses a significant global health burden, with contaminated food and water serving as common transmission sources. This illness stems from a multitude of infectious pathogens, including bacteria, viruses and protozoa, necessitating fast and precise diagnostic methods for effective clinical management. Traditional diagnostic approaches such as culture, microscopy and lowplex PCR entail lengthy turnaround times of 2–3 days. They involve labor-intensive procedures and staffing requirements, but yield suboptimal sensitivity and specificity. To address these challenges, we implemented syndromic testing using the QIAstat-Dx Rise platform for routine diagnostics. This innovative approach offers a single comprehensive test with results available in about an hour, and includes easy handling, training and maintenance. Our experience highlights the high positive output, sensitivity and specificity of the QIAstat-Dx Rise system. We find it can expedite diagnosis and improve patient care in the management of infectious gastroenteritis and respiratory syndromes.
