Digital PCR offers advantages in cancer research, enabling the accurate quantification of targets of interest in liquid biopsy (cfDNA) samples. It can routinely detect rare mutations in a high background of wild-type cfDNA. This event discusses "The power of two: automated sample preparation on the EZ2 Connect and analysis using the QIAcuity Digital PCR System." This automated workflow starts with high-volume sample processing and ends in ultra-low mutation detection, generating reliable results from the most complex samples.

You can look forward to a focused discussion on the challenges you face every day in the lab when working with such samples.

You can submit the questions you have for our experts here or ask them during the live event.

About the speaker
Dr. Oezlem Karalay, Senior Scientist, Digital PCR Assay Development
QIAGEN
Oezlem Karalay studied Molecular Biology & Genetics at the Middle East Technical University, Turkey, and obtained her M.Sc. degree in Neuroscience from the MPI for Developmental Biology, Tübingen. She received her doctorate in Neuroscience from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zürich. She joined QIAGEN after completion of her postdoctoral research at the MPI for Biology of Ageing, Köln, and since then has been involved in developing the digital PCR assay portfolio, including mutation detection and CNV assays.
Dr. Simon Hertlein, Scientist, Exosomes & ccfNA Product Development
QIAGEN
Simon Hertlein studied Biochemistry (Bachelor and Master of Science) at Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg and spent one semester at QIMR Berghofer in Brisbane, Australia. He received his Ph.D. in 2020 at the Center for Regenerative Therapies TU Dresden, investigating mammalian neural stem cells and their contribution to recovery from brain injury. Simon joined QIAGEN in November 2020, where he focuses on developing nucleic acid extraction applications from FFPE tissue (DNA and RNA) and plasma (cfDNA) using the new EZ2 Connect platform.
