Securing Value Creation of NGS Workflows with QIAGEN Automation for Quality Control and Validation

Gerald Schock will present part 2 of this 2-part webinar, which will build on the value creation along the NGS workflow (described in part 1). Gerald will explain how to secure the value of your workflow by performing rigid quality control steps along with verification and validation of the NGS results.

Ensuring highest quality of sample material between various steps in the NGS workflow is an absolute prerequisite for successful NGS runs and reliable results. This is addressed by the QIAxpert system, an innovative high-speed microfluidic UV/VIS spectrophotometer used for the quantification of nucleic acids and contaminating fractions during NGS sample purification and library preparation. In addition, the QIAxcel Advanced automated capillary electrophoresis system is used for determining size distribution to improve the reliability and accuracy of NGS library preparation.

Once NGS data has been successfully generated, results must be verified and their biological relevance demonstrated. The PyroMark platforms analyze short- to medium-length sequences quantitatively with high accuracy and at low cost, and are therefore highly suited for the verification and validation of NGS and other genomewide screening results.

Dr. Gerald Schock is Associate Director for QIAGEN’s Pyrosequencing product line. Dr. Schock studied Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Mainz, Germany and at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, UK. He joined QIAGEN after receiving his Ph.D. in 1996, and has held positions in Sales, Regional Marketing, and Global Marketing, where he built up the epigenetics portfolio before assuming responsibility for the Life Science Pyrosequencing portfolio.
