Isolate DNA from any soil or environmental sample source with the DNeasy PowerSoil Kit. The DNeasy PowerSoil Kit can isolate microbial genomic DNA from even tough compost, sediment or manure samples using Inhibitor Removal Technology (IRT). IRT eliminates humic acid content leaving highly pure DNA for downstream applications analysis. PCR analysis can detect DNA from a variety of organisms including fungi, algae, Gram (+/-) bacteria (e.g., Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus anthracis), actinomycetes (e.g., Streptomyces) and nematodes.

Total Genomic DNA was isolated from nine different sample types using the DNeasy PowerSoil Kit and soil DNA isolation kits from two other suppliers. All isolations were performed following the manufacturer's protocols. Eluted genomic DNA was displayed on a 0.8% TAE agarose gel (15 µl per lane).

PCR analysis using eubacterial primers was performed on 1 µl of the undiluted DNA elute. PCR products were displayed on a 0.8% TAE agarose gel.
