For the isolation of high-quality, pure DNA from biofilm samples
High DNA yields from difficult biofilm samples
Inhibitor Removal Technology provides high-quality DNA for downstream applications
Optimized isolation of pure DNA from all biofilms, including dental plaques and microbial mats
By pairing chemical and mechanical lysis techniques and Inhibitor Removal Technology (IRT), the DNeasy PowerBiofilm Kit overcomes inefficient cell lysis in the most challenging biofilms. IRT removes concentrated inhibitors such as humic acid, metals, salts and pesticides, typically present in biofilms resulting in increased yields of inhibitor-free DNA from all types of biofilms, including microbial mats.
DNeasy PowerBiofilm Kit was formerly sold by MO BIO as PowerBiofilm DNA Isolation Kit.
For the isolation of high-quality, pure DNA from biofilm samples
The DNeasy PowerBiofilm Kit is intended for molecular biology applications. This product is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease.
Figure 1: High-quality biofilm DNA isolated from a range of locations.
Biofilm DNA was isolated from a variety of locations. NanoDrop provided DNA yield. Agarose gel (1.2%) was used to assess quality. Each biofilm sample provided high-quality, high yield DNA when processed with the DNeasy PowerBiofilm Kit.
Figure 2: Pure DNA from stream biofilm.
The DNeasy PowerBiofilm Kit was used to extract DNA from stream epilithic biofilms. Biofilm was removed from stream pebbles using sonication. The sample was then pelleted through centrifugation, resuspended in Solution MBL and transferred to the bead tube. (Data kindly provided by A.T. Gildemeister, University of Stirling, UK)
Figure 3: PCR-ready DNA from any biofilm.
PCR performed using the KAPA 2GTM Fast HotStart Kit. Universal 16S rRNA gene (StreF/StreR) primers were used. This generated a 1,243 bp product.
