bactotype MAP PCR Reagent
For identification of DNA from Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis
The bactotype MAP PCR Reagent enables the safe identification of DNA from Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis. The reagent contains primer-probe sets for specific amplification of a highly conserved region of the Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis genome. The reagent also contains a heterologous amplification system to allow both nucleic acid extraction and amplification to be monitored, and an external positive control.

This is a real-time PCR reagent for the identification of DNA from Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP). Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is based on the amplification of specific regions of the pathogen genome. In real-time PCR, the amplified product is identified using fluorescent dyes. These are usually linked to oligonucleotide probes that bind specifically to the amplified product. Monitoring the fluorescence intensities during the PCR run (i.e., in real time) allows the identification of the accumulating product without the need to re-open the reaction tubes afterwards.
Prior to real-time PCR, DNA must be extracted from the starting material. QIAGEN offers a range of products for DNA extraction from animal samples.
The bactotype MAP PCR Reagent is designed to identify Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis DNA in biological samples using polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
