Overcome inefficient cell lysis with the RNeasy PowerBiofilm Kit. Mechanical and chemical lysis are combined with Inhibitor Removal Technology to isolate pure RNA free from inhibitors typical of biofilms, including humic acid, metals, salts and pesticides. The resulting RNA is then ready for further analysis with downstream applications.

The RNeasy PowerBiofilm Kit was formerly sold by MO BIO as PowerBiofilm RNA Isolation Kit (50).

RNA was isolated from biofilm collected from a variety of locations. RNA yield was examined via NanoDrop and quality was asessed via gel electrophoresis. High quality, high yield RNA was recovered from each biofilm sample.

*All yields represent combined results from multiple experiments and collaborators.

RNA was reverse transcribed using the QuantiTech Reverse Transcription Kit. Primers used were universal for the 16S rRNA gene (StreF/StreR) and generated a 1,243 bp product. The KAPA Fast HotStart kit was used for PCR.
