The miRNA Revolution: an Introduction to microRNA Biogenesis, Function, and Analysis

miRNA plays a critical role in many biological processes, such as differentiation and development, cell signaling, and response to infection. Overwhelming evidence indicates that aberration in miRNA expression is a cause or indicator of many disease processes, including cancer. This has led to increased research interest into the potential use of miRNA as biomarkers or therapies. Success in such research requires an understanding of miRNA biology and the ability to overcome key research challenges.

This 1-hour webinar will cover:
  • Biology of miRNA
  • Key challenges associated with miRNA research
  • Latest advances in miRNA research tools

Dr. Stefanie Brookmann

Stefanie Brookmann studied Biology at the Ruhr University Bochum, Germany and received her PhD in 2007 at the University of Düsseldorf, where she analyzed the osmolyte strategies of hematopoietic stem cells. Dr. Brookmann joined QIAGEN in 2009 as a Global Marketing Specialist, where she was responsible for QIAGEN's miRNA purification products. She is currently an Associate Market Manager, with a focus on the field of molecular microbiology.
